UTICA, NY- One more game remains in the UC field hockey's 2016 regular season schedule.   This Sunday, the Pioneers will travel to Rochester, NY to face off against the University of Rochester Yellow Jackets.  Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: UC beat Elmira 3-0 in their home finale last Saturday…  Junior Melissa Koch recorded a career-high two goals on the afternoon, while senior Rachael Scaramuzzino (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) made her final game at Gaetano count as she knocked in the final goal of the contest…  Junior goalie Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) stopped four shots during the game...  With the win, Utica improved to 5-12 and 4-4 in the Empire 8…  The Pioneers have now won three out of their last five games. 
 
LEADING THE WAY: Scaramuzzino is now the team's leading scorer after netting one goal against Elmira... She has a career-high six goals and 13 points on the year… Sophomore Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) is second on the squad with 11 points (five goals, one assist), while Koch has a team-high four assists.   
 
BLOCKING THE WAY: Whitehouse was named the Empire 8 Goalie of the Week, Monday after totaling 10 saves and allowing just one goal in two games…  She made six saves in a 1-0 loss to Geneseo on Oct. 20… She followed that up with a four-save shutout, her third of the season, to lift UC to the 3-0 win over Elmira on Saturday…
She now ranks second on the College's single-season list with 154 saves this year… Junior Jordan Noga (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) set a new program record with seven defensive saves this season. 
 
SCOUTING U OF R: Rochester is currently ranked No. 14 in the nation as it holds a 14-3 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the Liberty League Conference…  The Yellow Jackets have won four out of their last five games...  Their last victory was a 3-0 shutout against St. Lawrence University...  The team has scored 42 goals this season, and they only gave up 14 goals against their opponents...  Senior Callie Fisher and junior Claire Dickerson share the scoring lead with ten goals each...  Senior Sayaka Abe has a team and Liberty League high of 14 assists this season. 
 
AGAINST THE YELLOW JACKETS: Utica was shutout 2-0 at home to U of R last year (Sept. 13, 2015)…  Although, the Pioneers have no issues playing at the Yellow Jacket's home field (Edwin Fauver Stadium)…  Utica is 3-0 at Edwin Fauver Stadium in the past six seasons…   Their last win at U of R came on Oct 22, 2014 with a 2-1 overtime victory.
