Utica, NY – The Utica College women's soccer team played its last game of the season Saturday (October 29
th) against Alfred University (7-9-2 overall, 1-5-2 conference). This Empire 8 matchup ended in a 1-1 tie.
It was Senior Day at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium, as Utica's six seniors and their families were honored prior to the start of the game. Seniors
Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia),
Brianna Marfe (Mahopac, NY/Good Counsel),
Elizabeth Feigum (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional),
Xiomara Rodriguez (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood),
Ciara McIlvenny (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington), and
Sara Kubera (Utica, NY/Notre Dame) all started the game for the Pioneers.
In the first half Alfred outshot the Pioneers 8-5, but the game remained scoreless at halftime. Early into the second half Alfred was able to score the game's first goal taking a 1-0 lead. Just six minutes later Utica was able to tie the game up 1-1. Senior
Ciara McIlvenny (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) received a long pass from teammate
Samantha Marko (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) that led to the equalizing goal. It was McIlvenny's fifth goal of the season, which is the most on the team. Marko's pass was good for her first assist of the year. Senior goalkeeper
Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) was able to record a season high of 12 saves in the game.
This game concluded the season for the women's soccer team this year. The Pioneers finished with a record of 2-12-2 overall and 1-5-2 in Empire 8 play.
