UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team exploded with four goals in 4:26 in the third period to cruise to a 6-1 win over visiting SUNY Potsdam in ECAC West Conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers have now won three straight and improve to 3-2 overall and in the conference. The teams wrap up the season series in Potsdam on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.

SUNY Potsdam got on the board with just 1:53 remaining in the first period as Anna-Rose Bertin roofed a shot over the shoulder of Utica goalie,
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School). Brenne Wilson and Jenna Patterson assisted on Bertin's fourth tally of the year.

The Pioneers responded at 3:56 of the second period as
Meghan Power (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) redirected a shot from the point to even the score.Â
Jane Pagano (Erie, PA/Tabor Academy) and
Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Grass Lake) assisted on the play. Just 37 seconds later,
Emily Coope (Phoenix, AZ/Colorado Tigers) gave the Pioneers a 2-1 lead. Coope and freshman
Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies) came down on a 2-on-1. Coope's initial shot was stopped, but she followed up and put the rebound through the legs of Potsdam goalie, Alexa Pfieiffer, for her first of the year. Power also added an assist on the go-ahead goal.

 The Pioneers kept up the pressure in the third period, netting four goals in a span of 4:26. Pagano started the rally at 7:36 as she took a feed from
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) and riffled a shot off the post and in. Sophomore
Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) added a secondary assist on Pagano's second of the year. Just 1:24 later, Hirschy netted a goal of her own as she deflected a shot from
Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks ) for her second in as many games.Â
Veronique Lortie (Chambly, Quebec/Berkshire School) also assisted on the power play tally.

Dion and Taylor Oswoski capped off the scoring just 44 seconds apart to all but seal the victory. Power and Schnepp each tallied their second assists of the day, while
Kaitlin Parent (Myersville, MD/Middletown) and
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) registered their first helpers of the season.Â

Utica went 3-for-5 on the power play, while holding the Bears scoreless in four opportunities with the man advantage. Goin finished with 23 saves for UC, while Pfeiffer totaled 20 saves in the loss.Â
