MORRISVILLE, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team was outscored 43-31 in the final two quarters as it fell to host Morrisville State 60-50 in non-conference action Friday evening.
Junior
Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) led all players with 19 points on the day, including 13 in the second half, while three Mustangs scored in the double-digits.
Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) and
Rachel Hunter (West Islip, NY/West Islip) each had eight points, while
Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West) and
Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) combined for 13 points. Junior
Maggie Tabone (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) matched her career high with 10 rebounds, including eight off the defensive glass for Utica.
The home team opened the third quarter on a 14-5 run in the first five minutes to start the third quarter to gain the lead. The Mustangs kept up the pressure in the final frame, scoring 25 points to improve to 5-3 on the year.
Utica drops to 2-7 on the year. The Pioneers look to get back on track after the winter break as they host Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
