HOUGHTON, NY – The Utica College women's basketball team fell on the road to Empire 8 opponent Houghton on Saturday night.
Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) had a team high 12 points while
Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) added 10 points and six rebounds on the night.
Utica's record moved to 8-13 overall with a 3-9 Empire 8 record, while Houghton improved to 9-12 overall and 3-9 in the conference. The Highlanders bounced back from a 76-48 loss against Stevens.
The Pioneers look to get back in the win column as they host St. John Fisher in their annual Play 4 Kay Game on Tuesday February 9. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m.
The Highlanders had three players with 10 or more points and were led by Elle Reed who had a game high 17 points. Maisie Pipher tallied 15 points while Hannah Manwaring chipped in 13 points for Houghton.
The Highlanders took a 12-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back outscoring UC 23-13 in the second quarter, 17-15 in the third quarter, and 21-15 in the fourth quarter.
Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) contributed eight points and six rebounds while
Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West) had six points and three rebounds for Utica.
