UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team looks to bounce back Saturday as it travels to SUNY Potsdam on Saturday to take on the Bears.  Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: Utica suffered a humbling 11-1 defeat at the hands of Clarkson University last Saturday… Junior Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) scored the lone goal for UC, while sophomore Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) added the assist… Senior Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) made nine saves in the loss.
 
LEADING THE WAY: Junior Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) leads the team with ten goals and 11 points… Her 2.50 goals per game rank eighth in the Empire 8 and she leads the conference in draw controls per game (5.25)… Senior captain Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) is second on the squad with seven goals and nine points, while freshman Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) is right behind her with eight points (seven goals, one assist). 
 
HELPING OUT: Utica has also had scoring from senior Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport), junior Amanda Chruscicki (Utica, NY/Whitesboro), sophomore Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), and freshmen Mary Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford Greenwave).
 
STRONG D: Senior Briana Estabrook (Tully, NY/Tully ) is second in the E8 with 4.50 ground balls per game… She is also second in the conference in caused turnovers per game (2.75), while Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) is third (2.50).
 
IN THE CREASE: Senior Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) currently ranks third in the conference with an 8.67 goals against average… She is also fifth in save percentage (.480) and she has totaled 24 saves while collecting a 2-1 record.
 
SCOUTING POTSDAM: The Bears are currently 3-1 on the season and they are coming off a 20-5 rout of SUNY Canton on Wednesday… Potsdam is averaging 17.25 goals per game so far… The Bears have three players with at least 10 goals on the season, led by Murphy Newman, who has netted 19 goals and added three assists… Utica is 4-1 against Potsdam in the last five years… Last season, the Pioneers scored six unanswered goals to win 10-6 at Gaetano Stadium… Tewasherake Barnes (Akwesasne, NY/Salmon River), Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy), and Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) each had two goals to pace UC.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: Utica will return home on Tuesday as it hosts Oswego State… Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
