UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team kicks off its three-game week Tuesday as it hosts Oswego State … The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: Utica topped SUNY Potsdam in thrilling fashion on the road on Saturday with an 8-7 overtime victory … Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) had the game-winning goal with nine seconds left in the first overtime period … Plunkett led the way for UC with five goals on the afternoon, while Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy), and Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) each had one goal... Senior Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) made nine saves in net... UC bounced back from a loss the previous Saturday to Clarkson to improve to 3-2 on the year.
 
Leading The Way: Junior Rebecca Plunkett leads the team with 16 points off of a team high 15 goals and one assist … She is second in the Empire 8 Conference in draw controls per game (5.00) and is fifth in the conference in goals per game (3.00) … Senior Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) is tied for second on the team with 10 points off of eight goals and two assists … Wheeler is eighth in the conference in draw controls per game (2.60) and tenth in groundballs per game (2.80) … Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) has 10 points off of four goals and a team leading six assists … Miller is ninth in the conference in assists per game (1.20).
 
Freshmen Helping Out: Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) is fourth on the team with nine points (seven goals, two assists) while fellow freshman Mary Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) has chipped in with three goals and one assist … Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford Greenwave) has also found the back of the net once this season.
 
Upper Classmen Contributors: Junior Amanda Chruscicki (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) has three points on two goals and one assist while senior Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) has three points off of one goal and two assists … Junior Sarah Hennessay has contributed one goal and one assist while classmates Tewasherake Barnes (Akwesasne, NY/Salmon River) and Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) each have one assist.
 
Strong D: Briana Estabrook (Tully, NY/Tully ) leads the team in groundballs (21) and caused turnovers (13) … Estabrook is third in the conference in groundballs per game (4.20) and caused turnovers per game (2.60) … Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) is second on the team in caused turnovers (11) and is fifth in the conference in caused turnovers per game (2.20) … Dowling is third on the team in caused turnovers (nine) and ranks second in groundballs (17) … She is fifth in the E8 in groundballs per game (3.40) and ninth in caused turnovers per game (1.80).
 
In The Net: Senior Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) was named the Empire 8 Goalie of the Week, Monday, after matching her season-high of nine saves in the win over Potsdam...  She is currently ranked second in the conference in save percentage (.500) and saves per game (8.25) and she also ranks third in goals against average (8.15) … She has compiled a 3-1 record on the season.
 
Scouting Oswego State: The Lakers are 2-1 overall this season and are 2-0 at home and 0-1 on the road … Oswego rebounded from a 9-7 season opening loss to Clarkson to beat RIT 18-7 and Houghton 18-2 … The Lakers are led by Erannan Shattuck (17 points off of four goals and 13 assists) and Teresa Shattuck (15 points off of seven goals and eight assists) … In net for Oswego is Angela Ponto (20 saves, .556 save percentage, and a 5.82 goals against average) and Erin Ganley (one save, a .333 save percentage, and a 7.92 goals against average).
 
Against The Lakers: Utica is 3-3 all-time against Oswego State including a 2-2 home record, a 1-0 away record, and a 0-1 neutral site record … The Lakers have beaten UC the last two years … Last year the Pioneers fell at home 8-6 in overtime while in 2014 UC fell at home 10-6 … Utica last beat Oswego 10-5 at home in 2013.
