UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team is set to host Empire 8 Conference opponent and nationally-ranked No. 15 St. John Fisher College on Saturday at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: Utica (6-3, 1-0) handed non-conference opponent SUNY Poly (3-1) its first loss of the season, 16-4, on the road Wednesday … UC jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first half and never looked back … Utica outscored the Wildcats 9-4 in the second half and improved to 5-0 all-time against their local rival … Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) had a game and career-high six goals to pace the Pioneers. 
 
Leading The Way: Utica has four players with more than 10 points this season … Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) leads the team with 28 points off of a team high 27 goals and one assist … Plunkett is second in the conference in draw controls per game (5.11) and fifth in the conference in goals per game (3.00) … Wheeler is second on the team with 24 points off of 21 goals and three assists … She is fourth in the conference in draw controls per game (3.33) and is fourth in the conference in groundballs per game (3.78) … Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) is third on the team with 16 points off of seven goals and a team-high nine assists … Miller is seventh in the conference in assists per game (1.00) … Freshman Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) is fourth on the team with 15 points off of 12 goals and three assists.
 
Helping Out: UC has 13 players with at least one point … Freshman Mary Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) is fifth on the team with nine points off of seven goals and two assists while senior Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) has eight points off of six goals and two assists … Junior classmates Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) and Amanda Chruscicki (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) each have seven points off of three goals and four assists.
 
In The Net: Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) has played in and started six games this season … Casey has a 4-2 record, 41 saves, a .456 save percentage, and an 8.83 goals against average … Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) has played in three games while starting in one … Lupo has a 2-0 record, nine saves, a .500 save percentage, and a 4.53 goals against average … Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) has played in four games, starting in two … Jacobson has a 0-1 record, seven saves, a .219 save percentage, and a 16.52 goals against average … Casey is fourth in the conference in saves per game (6.83), she is seventh in the conference in goals against average, and seventh in the conference in save percentage.
 
Strong Defense: Junior Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) and senior Briana Estabrook (Tully, NY/Tully ) lead the UC defense … Notter is first on the team with 22 caused turnovers while Estabrook has 19 …  Notter is second on the team with 28 groundballs while Estabrook is tied for third with 26 … Notter is second in the conference in caused turnovers per game (2.44) and seventh in the conference in groundballs per game (3.11) … Estabrook is sixth in the conference in caused turnovers per game (2.11) and 10^th in the conference in groundballs per game (2.89).
 
Scouting St. John Fisher: The Cardinals are 7-1 overall with a 1-0 conference record and are currently ranked No. 15 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association … St. John Fisher's only loss came to No. 16 ranked Brockport on Wednesday, March 30 … The Cardinals are led by Jordan Johnson (29 points off of 18 goals and 11 assists), Cori Holbrook (19 points off of 14 goals and five assists), and Sierra Badger (19 points off of 14 goals and five assists) … In the net for Fisher is Hayley Peets (33 saves, a .471 save percentage, and a 5.20 goals against average).
 
Against The Cardinals: Utica has defeated Fisher two times in program history … Both wins were at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium … UC last beat the Cardinals 10-6 in the 2010 season.
