Women's Lacrosse Hosts Hartwick in Home Finale

UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team returns home Wednesday as it hosts Hartwick College in an Empire 8 Conference matchup. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Last Time Out: Utica is coming off of a 17-7 victory over conference opponent Alfred on Sunday … UC took a 12-3 lead after the first half before outscoring the Saxons 5-4 in the second half … Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) led the team with four goals while Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) had four points off of one goal and three assists.

Leading The Way: Plunkett and Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) lead the team with 38 points each … Plunkett has a team-high 36 goals and while Wheeler has 31 goals and seven assists … Plunkett is sixth in the conference in goals per game (2.77) and first in the E8 in draw controls per game (5.15) … Wheeler is seventh in the conference in goals per game (2.38), 10th in the conference in points per game (2.92), fifth in groundballs per game (3.15), and fifth in draw controls per game (2.85).

Helping Out: Utica has eight players with 10 or more points on the season … Sophomore Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) is third on the team with 20 points off of nine goals and a team high 11 assists … Miller is 10th in the conference in assists per game (.85) … Freshman Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) has 19 points off of 15 goals and four assists while senior Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) has 14 points off of 11 goals and three assists … Freshman Mary Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) has 12 points off of 10 goals and two assists … Amanda Chruscicki (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) and Hennessey each have 11 points … Chruscicki has five goals and six assists while Hennessey has four goals and seven assists.

Leading The Defense: Briana Estabrook (Tully, NY/Tully )  leads the team with 27 caused turnovers while Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) is second on the team with 23 caused turnovers … Estabrook is third in the conference in caused turnovers per game (2.08) while Notter is sixth in the conference with 1.77 caused turnovers per game.

In The Net: Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) is 6-4 over 10 games with 53 saves, a .427 save percentage, and an 8.75 goals against average … Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) has appeared in six games with one start and is 2-0 … Lupo has 18 saves, a .563 save percentage, and a 5.09 goals against average … Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) has appeared in seven games while starting two … Jacobson has nine saves, a .231 save percentage, and a 13.74 goals against average … Casey is seventh in the conference in goals against average, eighth in the conference in saves per game (5.30), and ninth in the conference in save percentage.
