Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Stevens on Saturday

UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team will host Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. with senior day festivities set to begin before the game. 
 
SENIOR DAY: Prior to game time, the Pioneers will honor eight seniors who are playing one of their last games at Utica College … This group has compiled a 34-22 record so far, as they still have six games left in the regular season … The players being honored are Tori Couture (Auburn, ME/Edward Little ), Briana Estabrook (Tully, NY/Tully ), Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy), Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Lisa Howden (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran), Mary Morgan Marafino (Monroe, NY/Central Square), Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy), and Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis).
 
LAST TIMEOUT: Utica is coming off a tough conference loss to nationally ranked No.15 St. John Fisher 8-2 … The Pioneers were down by two goals after the first-half, and then the Cardinals scored five goals throughout the course of the second stanza … Senior Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) scored the only two goals for the Pioneers … Senior Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) had three saves and was credited with the loss.
 
Leading The Way: Utica has four players with 15 points or more on the season … Junior Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) leads the way with 28 points (27 goals, one assist), Wheeler has 26 points (23 goals, three assists), sophomore Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) has 16 points (seven goals, nine assists), and freshman Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) has 15 points (12 goals, three assists).
 
Helping Out: There are nine more Pioneers who have registered at least one point so far this season … Freshman Mary Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) has nine points (seven goals and two assists), Dowling has eight points (six goals and two assists), junior transfer Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) has seven points (three goals and four assists), junior Amanda Chruscicki (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) has seven points (three goals and four assists), freshman Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford Greenwave) has two points (one goal and one assist) …Four players have recorded one point each including Marafino and freshman Jessica Steinhilber (Plainview, NY/Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK) with one goal apiece, while juniors Tewasherake Barnes (Akwesasne, NY/Salmon River) junior Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) each have one assist.
 
In The Net: Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) has played in seven games this season … She has a 4-3 record, 44 saves, a .436 save percentage, and an 8.92 goals against average … Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) has played in four games, while starting two … She has a 2-0 record, 11 saves, a .550 save percentage, and a 4.20 goals against average … Casey is fifth in the Empire 8 in saves per game (6.29), seventh in goals against average (8.92), and eighth in saves percentage (.436).
 
Strong Defense: Senior Briana Estabrook (Tully, NY/Tully ) and junior Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) lead the UC defense … Estabrook has a team-high 23 caused turnovers, while Notter has 22 … Estabrook is second in the Empire 8 in caused turnovers per game (2.30) and Notter is third (2.20).
 
Scouting The Ducks: The Ducks are 5-5 in the regular season and 2-2 in the Empire 8 … Stevens is led by senior Erika Wilcox who has 43 points on the season (39 goals, four assists) and she is second in the Empire 8 in goals per game (3.90) … Junior Kathleen Kalbian has 30 points (24 goals, six assists) and is eighth in the conference in goals per game (2.40) … In net for the Ducks is sophomore Stephanie Schnelzer (54 saves, .462 saves percentage, and 7.24 goals against average).
 
Looking Ahead: Following this weekend's contest, Utica will travel to Houghton next Saturday for a match up against the Highlanders… Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
