UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team fell 9-0 to visiting Empire 8 Conference opponent St. John Fisher on Saturday.
Kevin Vo (Utica, NY/Proctor) led the team winning eight games while falling in consecutive sets 6-5 and 6-3.
Four players won at least one game for Utica in singles action.
Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) (6-2,6-0) and
Paul Litvak (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) (6-1,6-1) won two games apiece while
Daniel Angotti (Auburn, NY/Southern Cayuga) won a game (6-1,6-0). In doubles action Vo and Rogers won seven games and forced an extra game eventually falling 9-7. The team of
Patrick Doan (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) and Litvak won two games falling 8-2 while
Jacob Nigolian (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) and
Edgar Aguilar (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) won two games as well falling by the same score.
The Pioneers return to action Sunday afternoon when they host conference opponent Nazareth College in the Todd and Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
