Box Score Saratoga Spring, NY -- The Utica College men's soccer team lost 3-1 in non-conference action at Skidmore College on Wednesday night. The Thoroughbreds worked a 2-1 lead in the first half and added an insurance tally late in the contest to seal the two goal victory.
The Pioneers' lone goal of the contest was scored by junior
Bita Gazashvili (Tiblisi, Georgia), his second in as many games, and was assisted by
Joseph Hunter (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh). Gazashvili now has five points in his last two outings, while Hunter has three.
Utica (1-4) returns to action on the road Saturday when it travels to Elmira College to take on the Soaring Eagles in the Empire 8 Conference opener for both teams. Skidmore moved its overall record to 2-2 on the season.
Skidmore's Kyle Barret opened the scoring on the afternoon at 20:03 to give the home team an early 1-0 lead. Just over 15 minutes later the Thoroughbreds earned a 2-0 advantage after a goal from Nick Masiero.
The Pioneers cut their deficit in half when Gazashvili scored after a cross from outside the box from the foot of
Joseph Hunter (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh).
Skidmore's Austin Okoye netted his third goal of the season with one second left on the game clock to insure the victory for the home team.

Matthew Milograno (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) stopped seven shots in the loss, while
Austyn Diller (Tappan, NY/Tappan Zee ) made one save in his debut for the Pioneers.
