UTICA, NY- The Utica College volleyball team hits the road Wednesday as it travels to SUNY Cobleskill for a match up against the Tigers. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers dropped a pair of Empire 8 Conference games over the weekend, losing to St. John Fisher College 3-0 and Elmira College 3-1… Over the course of two games senior
Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) totaled 17 kills, four blocks and two assists, while sophomore
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) added five kills, 30 assists and 19 digs… Sophomore
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) totaled eight kills and four blocks on the afternoon.
BLOCK BY BLOCK: Sophomore
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) leads the team and ranks second in the conference with 49 blocks… Her .83 blocks per set are good enough for third in the E8… She is also third on the squad with 104 kills.
CAN YOU DIG IT?: Sophomore
Leah Octave (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall) is fourth in the conference with 219 digs… Her 3.98 digs per set rank fifth in the conference… Octave is also tied for second on the squad with 18 service aces.
SCOUTING COBLESKILL: The Fighting Tigers are 6-9 overall and 1-6 in the NEAC… They are coming off an 0-3 weekend in NEAC conference play last week… Sophomore Emilie Reimer leads the team with 83 kills, while Brittany Boyce has a team-best 21 aces.
AGAINST THE FIGHTING TIGERS: Utica is 7-1 all-time against Cobleskill… Last year UC earned a pair of 3-0 wins against the Fighting Tigers… The last time Cobleskill defeated Utica was a 3-1 victory on Oct. 8, 2013.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers will return home this weekend as they host an 8-team tournament… UC will take on Farmingdale State and Potsdam on Friday and Stevens and Lasell on Saturday.
