CANTON, NY- The Utica College field hockey team dropped its final game of the St. Lawrence Tournament as it fell to SUNY New Paltz, 4-1, Sunday afternoon.
Utica jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead just 2:02 into the contest as sophomore
Tiffany Evans (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) netted her first of the season, off an assist from junior
Melissa Koch (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa). The Hawks responded at 7:42 as Colleen Roemer scored an unassisted tally.
New Paltz added another score in the final ten minutes of the first frame to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. The Hawks extended their lead with a pair of goals in the second half to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) had an impressive game in net, as she made a career-high 18 saves. 18 saves in a single-game ranks third all-time at UC.
Utica (0-2) will look to bounce back on Saturday as it opens Empire 8 Conference play at Ithaca College. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
