ANNVILLE, PA- The Utica College women's hockey team scored less than a minute into the game as it cruised to a 7-1 win over host Lebanon Valley College Tuesday evening. With the win, the Pioneers have now won six of their last seven games.
UC will look to carry its momentum into a huge ECAC West Conference series at nationally ranked No. 1 Plattsburgh State this weekend. The Pioneers will take on the Cardinals at 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Sophomore
Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) opened the scoring just 56 seconds into the game as she netted her second of the year, assisted by
Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Grass Lake) and
Jane Pagano (Erie, PA/Tabor Academy). The Dutchmen rebounded just over two minutes later as MacKenzie Bokina found the back of the net for her second of the year.
Utica regained control of the game at 7:13 as sophomore
Jennifer Liu (North Saanich, British Columbia/Shaftesbury Titans ) netted her third of the year, assisted by
Colby Begis (Little Elm, TX/Dallas Stars) and
Danielle Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Balmoral Hall). Begis' tally was the first of her collegiate career.
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) capped off the scoring for the period at 17:11 as she netted her third of the year and second in as many games. Senior
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) tallied an assist to become just the fifth player in program history to record 100 points in a career. Haasbeek also picked up the secondary assist on Dohner's goal.
UC added a pair of power play tallies in the second, off the sticks of Patterson and sophomore
Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks ). Schnepp, Liu,
Emily Coope (Phoenix, AZ/Colorado Tigers) and
Meghan Power (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) each had assists in the second period.
Senior
Jane Pagano (Erie, PA/Tabor Academy) capped off the scoring with a goal just 14 seconds into the final frame and another at 17:36 to seal the victory. Husak, Coope, and Power each recorded their second assists on the night, while
Kaitlin Parent (Myersville, MD/Middletown) also registered an assist.
Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) and
Briah Reilly (Hamden, CT/Brewster Academy) combined for three saves, while Jillian Moffat made 75 saves in the loss.
