UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team will be back at their home court this Saturday to take on Empire 8 opponent Houghton College … Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. 
 
A Game for Brooks Miles: Saturday's game is the Pioneers' fifth annual "A Game For Brooks Miles" where they will help raise awareness and money for Grady's Way … Grady's Way is a division of catholic charities and will be a residential emergency shelter for young men in the Utica community … This special game will have a 50/50 raffle, giveaways, and a bake sale during the women and men's games … Brooks Miles Rorick, son of Greg Rorick '98 and Angela Rorick, passed away from heart complications shortly after he was born on April 1, 2008 …  Greg, a local podiatrist and Utica College Alum, and his wife Angela are cousins of UC Women's Basketball Head Coach Michele Davis … Coach Davis is the godmother to Brooks' brother, Cooper Rorick.
 
Alumni Game: Before the 2 p.m. game the women's basketball team will host their annual Alumni Game at 11 a.m. … There will also be a reception after this game.
 
Last Time Out: In the Pioneers' last contest, they fell to St. John Fisher 74-59, snapping their three game winning streak … Junior Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) led the Pioneers with 16 points and six rebounds … Senior Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West) recorded a season-high 14 points, while junior Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) had 12 points and a game-high five steals … Utica is now 5-10 overall, and they are 3-3 in the Empire 8 Conference.
 
Mayo's Consistent Scoring: Mayo continues to lead the team in scoring as she averages 13.7 points per game … After putting up 13 points against the Cardinals, she now has recorded 13 or more points in each of the last six games … So far this season she has failed to score double digit points in just three games … Mayo is ranked sixth in the Empire 8 in scoring.
 
Babb Doing It All: Babb is currently averaging 13.1 points per game which is second best on the team … However, she does lead the team in assists (4.4 per game), rebounds (6.1 per game), steals (3.3 per game) and blocks (5 total) … Babb currently leads the Empire 8 in assists and steals … She also is ranked seventh in the conference in scoring.
 
Scouting Houghton: The Houghton Highlanders are 7-8 overall and 1-5 in the Empire 8 Conference. Elie Reed is the team's leading scorer as she averages 16.1 points per game.  The Highlanders are currently on a five game losing streak after their Thursday night loss to Ithaca College, 67-53. In the contest, Madison Detwiler led the team with her 17 points and five rebounds.
 
Against the Highlanders: The Pioneers are 3-5 against the Highlanders in the past four seasons… Their last victory against Houghton came on Feb. 14, 2015 … Graduate, Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) recorded a game-high 16 points to help Utica get past the Highlanders on the road 56-40 … The last meeting between these two teams resulted in a 73-52 win for Houghton … Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) led the Pioneers in scoring during the contest, finishing with 12 points and five rebounds.
 
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will travel to Ithaca College next Thursday for their next game to take on the Bombers for another Empire 8 contest … Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
