UTICA, NY- The Utica College volleyball team hits the road Thursday as it travels to Empire 8 Conference newcomer, Sage.  Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers dropped a pair of conference games at home on Saturday, losing to St. John Fisher 3-0 and Elmira 3-1…  Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led the Pioneers with 17 kills and four blocks on the day, while Miranda Stockbridge (Waterville, NY/Waterville) added 10 kills and three blocks. Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) finished the day with 20 assists and Abigail Mosenthin (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) added 26 digs.  Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) also chipped in with 21 digs and a team-high four aces.
 
BLOCK BY BLOCK: Junior Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) leads the team and ranks second in the Empire 8 with 70 blocks this season… She is averaging .96 blocks per set, which is also the second best in the conference… Herringshaw also leads the team with 169 kills on the year. 
 
ACE AT THE LINE: Junior Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) leads the team and is tied for sixth in the E8 with 35 service aces… She also has a team-best 231 digs and she is second on the squad with 114 kills.
 
HELPING OUT: Junior Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) leads the team with 238 assists and she has also chipped in with 129 digs… Abigail Mosenthin (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) ranks second on the team with 203 digs, and sophomore Jessica Macheda (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) ranks second in assists (108).
 
SCOUTING SAGE: The Gators are 6-18 overall (0-5 Empire 8) and they are coming off a 3-0 loss to Stevens on Saturday… Sage has four players with over 100 kills on the season, led by Miranda Nethaway, who has totaled 153… Utica is 1-3 against Sage in the last five years.
 
LOOKING AHEAD:  The Pioneers will return home on Saturday as they host a tri match against Bryn Mawr and SUNY Delhi...  The action kicks off at 11 a.m. as UC takes on Bryn Mawr.
