Field Hockey Heads to Brockport for Non-Conference Clash

UTICA, NY- The Utica College field hockey team returns to action Saturday as it travels to Brockport for a non-conference match up.  Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off a 4-2 loss at Geneseo on Wednesday… Sophomore Ricki Haab (Stowe, VT/Stowe) and freshman Sydney Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) each netted their second goals of the year, while Melissa Koch (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) and Jenny Robbins (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) each tallied one assist.
 
LEADING THE WAY: Junior Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) leads the team with 18 points (seven goals, four assists)… Utica is 4-2 this season when Meelan scores at least one goal. 
 
HELPING OUT: Freshman Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) is second on the team with six goals and 15 points… She is also just the second player in the last five years to score at least 15 points as a freshman… Senior Melissa Koch (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) is third on the team with nine points, and her five assists this year lead the Pioneers.
 
WHITEHOUSE INVITED TO SENIOR GAME: Senior goalie Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) was one of 60 players from around the country to be selected to play in the all-star game, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. at Bellarmine University… Whitehouse is currently third on the College's all-time list with 341 career saves.  Her seven shutouts also rank fourth all-time at UC.
 
SCOUTING BROCKPORT: The Golden Eagles are 3-12 overall and 1-5 in the SUNYAC… They are coming off a 6-1 loss at Nazareth on Tuesday… Brockport is led by Maria Morganthaler, who has eight points (three goals, two assists) on the year.
 
AGAINST THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Utica is 3-0 against Brockport in the last five years… The last time these two teams met was in 2015, when Utica came away with a 4-0 win… Jessica Belt (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) had one goal in the win, while Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) made one save. 
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers will remain on the road on Wednesday as they travel to Skidmore College... Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
