Utica, NY - The Utica College men's soccer team hosted Hobart on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup. The Pioneers earned the 1-0 victory, improving their record to 7-9-2 overall with one game remaining in the season.
Hobart possessed the ball for most of the first half and its showed on the stat sheet. The Statesmen outshot UC, 8-3, in the opening half of the contest. However, with help from
Jonathan Side (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh)'s three first half saves, the score stayed tied at 0-0 heading into halftime.
UC took control of the game early in the second half, as
Andrew Ruyack (Chester, NY/Monroe Woodbury) scored the first goal of his career. Ruyack buried a header into the back of the net, off of a Marvin Tucker corner kick, to give Utica a 1-0 lead.
The Pioneers' defense held firmly in the final half of play, giving the team a 1-0 win on the night.

Jonathan Side (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) earned the clean sheet, as he made six saves in the game. Hobart's Morgan Sawyer made two saves in net for the Statesmen.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday for their final game of the 2017 season. The team will be at home to host Empire 8 competitor Stevens, beginning at 1 p.m.
