PLATTSBURGH, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team was upended Sunday as it fell to defending National Champion and No. 1 ranked Plattsburgh State 5-0 in non-conference action.

The Cardinals used a pair of first period power play goals from Courtney Moriarty to jump out to a 2-0 lead and never look back. Plattsburgh added three more scores, two off the stick of All-American Melissa Sheeran, over the final 40 minutes to seal the victory.Â

Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) made a career-high 40 saves in the loss, while her counterpart, Kassi Abbott had 26 saves.

Plattsburgh was 2-for-6 on the power play while Utica was held scoreless on four chances with the man advantage.Â

The Pioneers return home next weekend as they host Becker College on Saturday (2:30 p.m.) and Manhattanville College on Sunday (3 p.m.)Â
