Utica, NY – The Utica College women's basketball team will be at home to play Morrisville State on Saturday. This non-conference matchup is set to begin at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out: In the team's last contest, UC was defeated by the SUNY Poly Wildcats by a score of 67-55.
Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) finished with a team-high 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting and made three steals on defense.
Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) recorded a stat line of 10 points and 12 boards, securing her second double-double of the year.
Ashley Mayo (Bronx, NY/Nanuet) added 12 points and six rebounds as well.
No Place Like Home: The Pioneers currently hold a record of 3-4 overall. The team is 3-0 so far this season when defending its home court. UC is scoring the ball much better at home, averaging 66.3 points per game, while the team has yet to break 60 points in an away contest.
Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) averages 16.7 points, 4.3 assists, and shoots 46.9% from the field at home, while putting up just 9.5 points and 2.3 assists on the road. Utica shoots 38.8% from the floor collectively at home, compared to shooting 29.6% on the road. Saturday's game against Morrisville is the first of four consecutive home games for the Pioneers.

Ashley Mayo (Bronx, NY/Nanuet) has been scoring at a very consistent rate so far this year. Just seven games in, Mayo has reached double-digits in the scoring column six times. She notched a season-high of 17 points at home against Misericordia. Mayo is currently on a streak of five games in a row with at least 10 points and will look to extend this through the team's matchup against Morrisville.
E8 Rookie of the Week: Freshman guard,
Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic) was selected as the Empire 8 women's basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday. In the last game against SUNY Poly, Johndrow contributed a career-high three assists to go along with four rebounds and did not commit a single turnover.
Statistical Leaders: Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) and
Ashley Mayo (Bronx, NY/Nanuet) lead the team in scoring. Babb and Mayo also rank ninth and tenth in the Empire 8 in scoring, averaging 12.6 and 11.9 points per game, respectively.
Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) is first on the team and she ranks sixth in the conference with an average of 7.9 rebounds a game. Babb is also tops on the team and fifth in the E8 with an average of 3.1 assists per game.
Scouting Morrisville: The Mustangs are currently sitting at a record of 4-5, after they recently defeated Wells College, 64-31. Marissa Woodard led the way with a double-double, tallying 13 points and 11 rebounds on 5-for-6 shooting. Haley Kilmartin scored a game-high 15 points, while teammate Alexis Campbell added 12 points of her own. Kilmartin (12.0 pts), Campbell (11.4 pts), and Tori Rockefeller (11.1 pts) are all averaging double-digits in scoring for Morrisville this season.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will be back home again on December 30th, as they play host to Union College on that Saturday. The contest is scheduled to tip-off at 1 p.m.
