Utica, NY – The Utica College women's basketball team will wrap up its season at home on Saturday, as it will host Elmira College …  A short ceremony will take place to honor senior Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West) before the game begins at 2 p.m.
 
Senior Day: UC only has one senior on the roster this season, Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West). Carty has played for the Pioneers for all four seasons of her collegiate career … As a senior she has averaged 5.4 points per game and 2.8 rebounds a game … In the Pioneers' 68-59 win over Nazareth, she finished perfect from the field shooting 4-for-4 from the floor and 4-for-4 at the free throw line on her way to scoring 12 points … During her junior year she earned her career-high of 16 points in the team's 91-84 victory over RPI, as she shot 5-for-7 from the floor and went 2-for-2 from behind the 3-point arc.
 
Last Time Out: In UC's last contest, the team lost at home to conference opponent Ithaca College, 79-63 … Rachel Hunter (West Islip, NY/West Islip) shot 8-for-11 from the field in the game leading the Pioneers with 17 points … Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) added 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists of her own while Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) recorded 13 points and seven rebounds … The loss pushes the Pioneers record to 6-18 overall and 4-11 in the Empire 8 this season.
 
Statistical Leaders: Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) is the team's leading scorer as she averages 14.8 points a game, which ranks her fifth in scoring in the Empire 8 … Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) is second on the team in scoring and ranks tenth in the conference with an average of 12.8 points per game … Babb leads the team in rebounds, assists, and steals this year … She averages 5.5 boards per game, four assists a game which is second best in the conference, and 2.9 steals per game to lead the conference.
 
Season Long Consistency: Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) has consistently been the Pioneers go to scorer throughout the course of the season … Mayo has recorded double digit points in all but five games for UC, including when she scored a career-high 28 points in the team's loss to Houghton … In that contest she shot 11-for-20 from the floor and 3-for-5 from 3-point territory to go with her nine rebounds and three steals … At one point during the season she put together a stretch of eight consecutive games where she scored double digit points.
 
Scouting Elmira: The Soaring Eagles currently hold a record of 7-17 overall and are 3-12 in Empire 8 competition … The team lost its last game against St. John Fisher by a score of 85-71 … Danielle Cleary did a little bit of everything for Elmira, as she finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals … Rachel Vespucci earned a doube-double with 19 points and 12 boards while Emily Green added 15 points of her own … Cleary is the team's leading scorer as she averages 15.8 points per game, which ranks fourth in the Empire 8 … Vespucci averages a double-double, with marks of 12.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
 
Against Elmira: In the last matchup between UC and Elmira, the Pioneers earned the 65-51 victory on the road … Four players scored double figures for Utica in the contest … Babb led the team as she ended the game with 20 points, five rebounds, and seven assists … Mayo recorded 18 points for the Pioneers while Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) registered a double-double with her 10 points and 10 boards … Rachel Hunter (West Islip, NY/West Islip) contributed with 10 points as well … The Pioneers outscored the Soaring Eagles, 44-20, in points in the paint.
 
The Pioneers will not qualify for the Empire 8 Conference Tournament this year, making Saturday's game against Elmira the last contest of the season.
