CORTLAND, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team wrapped up the regular season with a 4-2 win over host SUNY Cortland in ECAC West Conference action Saturday afternoon.

With the win, UC finishes tied for third in the conference standings with Buffalo State. The Pioneers lose the tie-breaker to the Bengals so Utica will be the fourth seed in the ECAC West tournament and will host fifth-seeded Oswego State in the conference quarterfinals on Thursday at the Utica Memorial Auditorium (7 p.m.)

The Pioneers finish the regular season with a 16-8-1 overall record and an 11-6-1 mark in the conference. They have won at least 15 games in four out of the last five seasons. UC has won its last seven and the Pioneers are 7-1-1 in their last nine.

After a scoreless first period, Utica got on the board at 3:17 of the second period as senior
Emily Coope (Phoenix, AZ/Colorado Tigers) put in a rebound after a scrum in front of the net for her eighth of the year, and the 50
th point of her career.
Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Grass Lake) and
Jennifer Liu (North Saanich, British Columbia/Shaftesbury Titans ) picked up assists on the play.Â

Coope scored again just over three minutes later as she fired a snap shot on a 2-on-1 that beat Cortland goalie Kelly Farinella for her career-best ninth goal of the season. Junior
Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) assisted on the play.Â

Then, at 8:58 of the second, Junior
Meghan Power (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) tipped in a point shot from
Danielle Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Balmoral Hall) for her fifth of the year. Coope also picked up the secondary assist on the play.

Cortland got one back at 8:30 of the third as Jackie Richards' shot from the blue line found the back of the net. Mackenzie Wright assisted on Richards' first of the year.

Senior
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) regained the three-goal lead at 11:52 as she buried a loose puck in the slot for her seventh of the year, assisted by
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects). Cortland came within two with just 2:27 remaining, but the Pioneers held on for the win.Â

Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) had 18 saves on the day, including the save on a penalty shot in the latter half of the second period, to preserve Utica's 3-0 lead at the time. Farinell finished with 28 saves for Cortland.Â
