UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team gets back in action Tuesday as it travels to Hartwick College.  Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

LAST WEEK RECAP: UC went 1-1 last week, defeating Nazareth 68-59 at home on Thursday, before falling to St. John Fisher College 67-57 on the road on Saturday… Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) led Utica with a double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds) to help the Pioneers earn the win on Thursday… Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) added 14 points and six rebounds in the contest... Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West) was perfect from the floor, shooting 4-for-4 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line, and finishing with 12 points… Babb led the way on Saturday as she finished with 20 points, five rebounds and two steals in the loss… Junior Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) netted 11 points, while classmate Maggie Tabone (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) came off the bench and made 3-of-4 field goals to post a season-high eight points to go along with six rebounds.

PIONEERS' RECORD: After last week's performance, the Pioneers are now 6-14 overall and 4-7 in the Empire 8… Utica is now ahead of Elmira and Alfred in the Empire 8 standings… With five games remaining in the schedule, the Pioneers need three more wins to improve off of their 2015-16 record (8-17). 

MAYO AND BABB STILL HAVING GREAT YEARS: Juniors Ashley Mayo (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) and Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) are still the top two contributors for the Pioneers this late in the season… Mayo currently leads the team and ranks sixth in the Empire 8 with an average of 14.2 points per game … Babb on the other hand still leads the conference in steals (Avg./G: 3)… On the offensive side, Babb has averaged 12.8 points per game and is first on the team and second in the conference in assists (Avg./G: 4). 

SCOUTING HARTWICK COLLEGE: Hartwick is 14-7 overall and 10-2 in the Empire 8… The Hawks just beat Alfred University 86-69 on the road last Saturday… Senior Emily Stone led the Hawks with 20 points… Sophomore guard Caitlin Corbett netted 14 points and senior Sarah Shaw had 13…  Hartwick is ranked second in the E8 in scoring (65.9 Avg./G), and they also have the conference's best field goal percentage of .329… Stone is the Hawks' top performing player as she has a team-high scoring average of 13.7…  Senior Jacqui Foreman leads the team and is ranked third in the conference in rebounding (Avg./G: 9.3).   

AGAINST THE HAWKS: The Pioneers lost 62-52 to the Hawks at home just five days after the new year (Jan. 5)… Mayo recorded a game-high 15 points and Babb dished out a career high of 10 assists in the loss… Utica's last victory against the Hawks came on the road on Jan. 20, 2015… Utica College graduate Bridget Greenwald recorded her fifth double-double of the season to help the Pioneers beat Hartwick 53-47.   

LOOKING AHEAD: After Hartwick, the Pioneers will play Empire 8 rivals Houghton College on Friday (6 p.m.) and Alfred University on Saturday (2 p.m.)… Utica will then head back to their home court Feb. 14 to play another Empire 8 foe, Ithaca College.
