UTICA, NY-  The Utica College women's lacrosse team looks to bounce back Friday as it hosts Clarkson University… The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but has been moved to Friday at 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: UC is coming off a tough loss, 15-6, at Skidmore on Wednesday… Senior Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) and sophomore Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) each scored a team-high two goals in the loss… Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) had one goal and one assist and freshman Rachel Gelina (Westfield, MA/Westfield) netted her first collegiate goal… Utica goalies Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) and Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) combined for ten saves. 
 
Plunkett and Scarpinella Leading the way: Plunkett and Scarpinella are tied for the team lead with six points each...  Plunkett has scored a team-high five goals this season while Scarpinella has netted four… Plunkett is also tied for first in the Empire 8 in ground balls with an average of 4.00 per game. 
 
In The Crease: Freshman Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) has started both games this season for UC… She made 11 saves to pick up the win in her first collegiate start last Sunday against Potsdam… She also racked up nine saves in just over 50 minutes of work against Skidmore… Vandermeulen ranks second in the E8 with 10.0 saves per game. 
 
Scouting Clarkson: The Clarkson Golden Knights have yet to play at their home field, but they are still above .500 (2-1 overall)… They beat Oswego State 10-6 on the road last Tuesday… Clarkson senior Ashley Flick scored a season-high five goals, including the first and last Knight's goal, in the victory… Clarkson's goalie Samantha Gladd made six saves in that game… Sophomore Jaid Baytos is showing strong contribution for the Knights this early in the season... She has a team-high seven goals and eight points… Gladd is also a big asset to the team as she made a team-high 13 saves and is 2-1 this year. 
 
Against the Golden Knights: Utica is 4-3 against Clarkson since 2010, but the Pioneers hold a 3-1 record against the Golden Knights at home since then… Last year, UC had a tough showing at Clarkson, falling 11-1… Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) scored the lone goal for UC. 
 
Looking Ahead: After Clarkson, the Pioneers will travel to Wellesley College next Saturday for a non-conference contest… Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
