ROCHESTER, NY- The Utica College softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon, losing 7-0 and 8-0 to the University of Rochester.

Utica 0, U of R 7- Game One Final
Rochester scored three runs in the second inning and added four more over the final three frames to come away with a 7-0 shutout in game one.

Juniors
Sabrina Stransky (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) and
Dominique Soto (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) each had one hit, while freshman
Jacqueline Aronin (Naugatuck, CT/Naugatuck High School) had one steal in game one.Â

Brittany Meka (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) and
Alyssa Samborin (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) combined for four strikeouts and allowed just one earned run each in the loss.

Utica 0, U of R 8 (5 Innings)- Game Two Final
After three scoreless innings, the Yellow Jackets scored three runs in the fourth and added five in the fifth to earn the run rule victory.Â

Once again, Utica could not get much going at the plate as the Pioneers mustered just two hits in game two, both off the bat of
Nicole Rice (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South).Â

Sabrina Stransky (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) shouldered the loss as she allowed three runs in four innings of work.Â

The Pioneers look to rebound Saturday as they travel to Elmira College. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
