UTICA, NY- The Utica College men's tennis team fell to visiting Alfred University 8-1 in Empire 8 Conference action Friday afternoon.

Luc Boby (Chicago, IL/Kalamazoo (NAHL)) picked up the win in fifth singles for UC as he won in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 10-8). Boby is now 2-2 in singles play on the season.Â

Sophomore
Garrett Noake (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) put up a fight in second singles, but was defeated in three sets by Alfred's Peter Smock. Noake took the first set 6-4, but fell in the next two, 4-6 and 7-10.

Christopher Dunn (Schenectady, NY) in first singles (6-1, 6-0). Patrick Brown defeated
Paul Litvak (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) 6-1, 6-1 in third singles while Kyle Kemper dropped
Jacob Nigolian (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) by identical scores of 6-3,6-3 in fourth singles. Tom MacDonald earned the win in sixth singles as he downed
Patrick Restuccio (Clermont, FL/Legacy Charter) 6-2, 6-4.

Volz and Smock teamed up in first doubles to defeat Dunn and Litvak 8-2, while Brown and Kemper downed Noake and Nigolian, also by the score of 8-2. Palmer and MacDonald capped off the day defeating Boby and Alfonso Whitehurst 8-1 in third doubles.

The Pioneers (1-4, 0-3 Empire 8) return to action Monday as they host Elmira College. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
