Women's Lacrosse Travels to Fisher for Conference Clash

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team will travel to Rochester Tuesday to play another Empire 8 conference opponent, St. John Fisher.  The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. 
 
Last Time Out: Despite leading 7-6 at halftime, UC fell to host Stevens Institute of Technology 12-8 in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday… Sophomore Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) led the Pioneers with four points on the day, including a team-high three goals… Senior Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) finished with two goals on the day, to bump her season total to 15, marking the highest production of her career… Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) had one goal and one assist, Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) netted one goal, and Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) had one assist. 
 
Leading the Way: Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) has a team-high 36 points and 32 goals… She is ranked sixth in the Empire 8 in goals per game (2.91) and second in shots per game (7.27)… Plunkett has totaled 160 points in her career and needs just one more point to move into a tie for fourth place on the College's career scoring list with 2015 graduate and current assistant coach, Morgan DuPont.
 
Helping Out: Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) is also putting up big numbers this season… She has scored a career-high 31 goals and she ranks seventh in the conference in goals per game (2.82)… Senior Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) leads the team with 17 assists
 
No Sophomore Slump: Second year midfielder Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) has a career-high 19 goals and 13 assists so far… She ranks third on the team with 32 points and she is second on the squad with 32 ground balls and 31 draw controls. 
 
Big D: Senior Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) leads the E8 with 38 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers… She is a mainstay on the Pioneer defense that ranks fourth in the conference with 9.54 goals against per game. 
 
Scouting St. John Fisher: The St. John Fisher Cardinals are 7-4 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8 Conference… They are coming off a 17-3 win over Hartwick College on Friday… Jordan Johnson is having a great year, as she leads the team in points (61), goals (29), and assists (32)… She is second in the Empire 8 in assists per game (2.91) and points per game (5.55)… Senior goalie Hayley Peets is 5-4 and has made a team-high 46 saves while holding an 8.62 goals against average. 
 
Looking Ahead: After Fisher, the Pioneers will return home on Friday for a non-conference matchup against local rival, SUNY Poly… Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
