Hoboken, NJ - The Utica College men's lacrosse team battled Empire 8 opponent, Stevens, on the road Wednesday. The Pioneers fell to their conference opponent, 21-7. The loss puts UC's record at 8-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Stevens got out to an early lead with five straight goals to start out the game and never looked back. The Ducks held a commanding 12-4 lead going into the halftime break, before outscoring Utica 9-3 in the second half.
Jake Bratek (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) led the Pioneers in scoring as he finished with three goals in the game.
Brickman House (Oneida, WI/Pulaski) contributed one goal and two assists, while
Dominic Castiglia (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) added one goal.
Nick Yelich (Lancaster, NY/Depew) registered one goal and one assists and teammate
Sam Davi (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) netted one goal. Goalkeeper
Parker Smith (Dexter, NY/General Brown) received the loss in this one, as he made six saves, and
Harrison Bower (Northport, NY/Kings Park) made two saves of his own.
Max Bailey led the way for the Ducks, as he recorded one goal and four assists in the contest. Tommy Dawson scored three goals to go with one assist, while Brendan Monteleone added three goals of his own. Stevens improves to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in the Empire 8 so far this season.
The Pioneers will return to action on Saturday as they will host St. John Fisher. This Empire 8 matchup is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
