UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team wraps up its 2017 campaign Saturday on the road as it takes on Empire 8 Conference foe, Hartwick College. 
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers lost a heartbreaker Wednesday as they fell to Nazareth College 14-9, eliminating UC from playoff contention… Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) and Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) each had three goals on the day, while Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) totaled one goal and one assist… Hailee DuMont (Wilkes-Barre, PA/James M. Coughlin) and Tewasherake Barnes (Akwesasne, NY/Salmon River) netted one goal apiece and Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) chipped in with one assist… Utica goalie Emily Holtshouser (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) stopped six shots for the Pioneers after coming on in relief of Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) at the 18-minute mark of the first half.
 
MOVING ON UP: With three goals on Wednesday, senior Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) moved into fourth place on the College's career scoring list with 163 points… She needs four more points to tie Pioneer Hall of Famer, Kristy Patchett for third on the list… Plunkett is also currently fourth on the all-time goal-scoring list with 145 goals in her career as a Pioneer… She needs two more to tie 2015 graduate, Megan Kane for third on the list… This season, Plunkett leads the team with 35 goals and 39 points and she ranks third in the conference with 4.00 draw controls per game.
 
HELPING OUT: Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) are tied for second on the squad with 35 points apiece… Miller is also second with 33 goals, while Scarpinella has netted 22 goals and ranks second on the team in assists (13), both of which are career highs for the sophomore.
 
DISHING IT OUT: Senior Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) leads the team with 19 assists this season… She needs just two more to tie current assistant coach, Morgan DuPont '13 and Casey Pelletier '08 for third on the College's single-season list.
 
SCOUTING HARTWICK: The Hawks are 9-5 overall (3-4 Empire 8) and they are coming off a 15-8 win over Morrisville State on Wednesday… Hartwick has four players who have scored more than 40 points this year, led by senior Lauren Rosenberg, who a team-high 46 goals and 60 points.
 
AGAINST THE HAWKS: Utica is 9-7 all-time against Hartwick… Last year, the Pioneers defeated the Hawks 16-6 in their home finale…. Seven different players scored for UC, including Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), who had four goals and one assist, while Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) and Amanda Chruscicki (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) combined for five goals on the day… Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) each found the back of the net once… The last time Hartwick beat Utica was in 2007 when the Hawks came away with a 13-11 win.
