UTICA, NY- Sophomore Nicole Rice (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) of the Utica College softball team was named second team All-Region for the Northeast Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association earlier this week.
 
Rice, who was recently named second team All-Conference, wrapped up the season leading the Empire 8 with a .480 batting average and a .529 on base percentage.  The everyday second baseman led the team with 11 doubles, 14 walks, and nine stolen bases.  She also was second on the squad with 24 RBIs and she had an impressive .949 fielding percentage.
 
Utica wrapped up the year with a 17-21 overall record.  UC returns the core of its lineup as the Pioneers graduate just one senior.
