PITTSFORD, NY- The Utica College baseball team dropped the final game of its Empire 8 Conference series against St. John Fisher College, 3-0, Thursday afternoon.
Â
The Cardinals got on the board in the bottom of the first as Ryan Prevost walked with the bases loaded.
Â
Fisher added two more runs in the third thanks to an RBI triple by Prevost and a single by Malcolm Kelsey that plated one. That was all the Cardinals needed as they improved to 15-1 in the conference.
Â
Despite having more hits than the home team, Utica could not get a run across.Â
Christian Tiffin (Sherrill, NY/VVS),
JT Ross (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills),
Jake Ryan (Kingston, NY/Kingston),
Zachary Schellenger (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady),
Adam Nell ( Vernon, NY/VVS),
Jacob Gaboriault (Colchester, VT/Essex), and
Stephen Soria (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) each contributed one hit, with Tiffin leading the way with a double.
Â
Sophomore
Mark Spina (Frankfort, NY/Frankfort-Schuyler) struck out one and allowed just five hits in the loss.Â
Â
UC (18-16, 8-8 Empire 8) returns to action Friday with a big E8 contest at Elmira College. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
