ALFRED, NY – The Utica College men's soccer team allowed two second half goals and lost to host Alfred University 2-0 the Empire 8 Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, the Saxons netted two goals in a span of 6:10 to earn the game deciding two goal advantage at the 58:09 marker of the second half.
Utica's record moved to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the E8 while the Saxons won their first game of the season and improved to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the E8.

Jonathan Side (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) stopped two shots on the afternoon. Chris Gutierrez made two saves for the Saxons.
Alfred earned a 15-11 shot advantage and was also awarded eight corner kicks compared to the Pioneers two.
The Pioneers return to the pitch on Sunday when they travel to D'Youville for a non-conference contest at 12 p.m.
