UTICA, NY- The Utica College field hockey team embarks on a four-game road trip Tuesday as it travels to Oneonta, NY to take on Hartwick College.  The Empire 8 Conference contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off a 4-1 win over Houghton on Saturday… Freshman Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) led the way with two goals, while junior Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) had one goal and two assists… Joanna Gaertner (Schuylerville, NY/Schuylerville) also scored and Jessica Belt (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) and Melissa Koch (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) each had one assist… Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) was nearly perfect in goal, turning aside 13 shots, but the Highlanders scored on a penalty corner as time expired to spoil the shutout. 
 
LEADING THE WAY: Junior Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) leads the team with 12 points, and she ranks third in the conference with five goals… She has now scored eight points in her last three games.
 
SISTER ACT: Sisters Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) and Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) have stood out so far for the Pioneers… Samantha, a senior, leads the Empire 8 with a .810 save percentage… She is one of only three goalies in the E8 with a shutout this season, and she ranks fourth in the conference with a 1.931 goals against average… Sabrina, a freshman, ranks second on the team with 10 points (four goals, two assists)…  She has a four-game point streak and has netted four goals in her last three games.
 
HELPING OUT: Senior Melissa Koch (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) and sophomore Joanna Gaertner (Schuylerville, NY/Schuylerville) each have six points on the year… Koch has two goals and two assists, while Gaertner has scored three goals… Josie Sgarlata (Canastota, NY/Canastota) has one goal and one assist, and Jessica Belt (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder), Madison Williams (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent), and Jenny Robbins (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) have each tallied at least one point. 
 
SCOUTING HARTWICK: The Hawks are 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the E8… They are coming off a 3-1 win over Brockport on Saturday… Senior Claudia Stone leads the team in goals (four), assists (four), and points (12).  
 
AGAINST THE HAWKS: Utica is 5-0 against Hartwick in the last five years … The Pioneers last lost to the Hawks, 1-0, in 2009… Last year, UC defeated Hartwick 2-1… 2017 graduate Rachael Scaramuzzino (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) had both of UC's goals, while Joanna Gaertner (Schuylerville, NY/Schuylerville) assisted on both tallies. 
 
LOOKING AHEAD: UC remains on the road Saturday as it travels to St. John Fisher College… Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
