UTICA, NY- The Utica College volleyball team returns home Saturday as it takes on Morrisville State and Southern Vermont in a tri-match. UC will take on Morrisville at 12 p.m. and Southern Vermont at 5 p.m. The Mustangs and the Mountaineers will face off against each other at 2:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers lost a five set heartbreaker on Monday, falling to SUNY Delhi 3-2… UC jumped out to a two-set lead, but the Broncos battled back to force a fifth and deciding set… The teams traded points in the fifth set before the home team was finally able to come away with the victory… Juniors
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) and
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) led the Pioneers with nine kills and eight kills, respectively, while classmate
Miranda Stockbridge (Waterville, NY/Waterville) was right behind them with seven kills to her credit... Voss also tied
Jessica Macheda (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) the team lead with three service aces.
CONTROLLING THE NET: Junior
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) has led the Pioneers on both sides of the net this season… She has totaled 56 blocks and she ranks second in the conference with 1.00 blocks per set… Herringshaw also has a team-high 119 kills.
ACE AT THE LINE: Junior
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) leads the squad and ranks seventh in the E8 with 26 service aces… Voss also has a team-best 181 digs and she is second on the squad with 88 kills.
HELPING OUT: Junior
Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) has contributed a team-leading 212 assists so far, and she is also third on the team in digs (106)… Senior
Abigail Mosenthin (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) is second on the team with 137 digs.
SCOUTING MORRISVILLE: The Mustangs are 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the NEAC… They are coming off a 3-0 win over SUNY Delhi on Wednesday… Morrisville is led by Megyan Merrill, who has 166 kills, while Kirsten Florio has 44 blocks.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN VERMONT: The Mountaineers are 1-12 overall and they are coming off a 3-2 win over Cobleskill last Saturday… Southern Vermont is led by Sarah Billow, who has 82 kills on the season.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers remain home on Monday as they host Cazenovia College… Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
