ALFRED, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team outscored host Alfred University 34-26 in the second half to come away with a 57-51 victory in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in the Empire 8, while Alfred drops to 2-14 (0-8 E8). Utica remains on the road on Friday as it travels to Nazareth College. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Three players scored in the double-digits for the Pioneers, led by Senior
Ashley Mayo (Bronx, NY/Nanuet), who had a game-high 23 points. Mayo is now just 17 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point milestone for her career.  Junior
Briannah Florian (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) finished second on the squad with 11 points, followed by
Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) with ten. Babb and Mayo each collected a team-high eight rebounds. Â

Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic) totaled six points on the evening to go along with her six boards and three steals.Â
Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah),
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), and
Cortlynn Jepsen (Hudson, NY/Hudson) also aided the offense.Â

Alfred was led by Jamie Wilcox, who netted 17 points and added eight rebounds, and Bri Hicks recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.Â
