Rochester, NY – The Utica College men's basketball team fell to St. John Fisher on the road Friday, with the final score reading 84-53. UC's record becomes 10-8 overall and 5-4 against conference opponents.
Fisher earned and early edge, taking an 11-4 lead within the opening four minutes. The Pioneers answered with a 7-2 run in the span of 2:21, to cut the Cardinal lead down to just one point. St. John Fisher closed the half out strong, holding a 39-18 lead entering the locker room at halftime.
The Cardinals maintained control of the game throughout the second half, leading by as many as 41 points in the contest. Utica was unable to fight its way back into the game, losing by 31 points in this E8 contest.
Kobe Lufkin (Argyle, NY/Argyle) scored a team-high 11 points, as he went 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
Carl Taylor (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) recorded eight points and seven boards, while
Ivan Iton (Ossining, NY/Ossining) and
Avery Coston (Kerhonkson, NY/Rondout Valley) scored seven points each.
Sammy Robinson led the way from Fisher, as he finished with a game-high 16 points to go with six rebounds. Dennis Hare scored 15 points off the bench, shooting 5-for-6 from the floor. The Cardinals improve to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in Empire 8 competition.
The Pioneers are back home on Tuesday, as they host Nazareth College for another conference matchup. The game is set to tip-off at 6 p.m.
