Utica, NY – The Utica College women's basketball team will be on the road to face Stevens, on Tuesday. This Empire 8 Conference battle is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Pioneers fell to St. John Fisher in their last game, 65-53, pushing their record to 4-6 overall and 0-1 in E8 play.
Ashley Mayo (Bronx, NY/Nanuet) recorded a career-high 33 points (13-for-23 FG), while adding four steals and two blocks on defense.
Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) finished with eight points, four assists and five steals.
Statistical Leaders: Mayo is currently leading the team in points, steals, and blocks so far this season. Her average of 14.4 points per game currently ranks sixth in the Empire 8, while she also leads the conference with 2.8 steals each game.
Alaina Tripp (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) is tops on the team and seventh in the league with her average of 7.4 rebounds a game.
Ashelyne Babb (Lynn, MA/Winthrop) is slightly behind Mayo with averages of 12.5 points and 2.1 steals per game, to go along with her team leading mark of 3.8 assists per game. Babb's assist numbers rank fifth in the E8.
Scouting Stevens: Stevens is currently sitting at an overall record of 6-5 and is 3-0 in E8 competition. The Ducks are on a three-game winning streak, after defeating Alfred by a score of 69-58 in their last game. Megan Brown did it all for Stevens, finishing with a stat line of 17 points, 18 rebounds, and five assists. Brown is fourth in the Empire 8 with an average of 14.8 points per game, while teammate Anna Toke ranks sixth with her mark of 14.4 points a game. Toke and Brown are second/third in the conference with rebounding averages of 9.8 and 9.5 per game.
Against Stevens: UC will be looking for some revenge after losing both meetings with Stevens during last season. Stevens won the first matchup last year by a score of 71-53, as Megan Brown tallied a double-double for the Ducks. Despite
Ashley Mayo (Bronx, NY/Nanuet)'s 18 points and nine rebounds in the second meeting between the two teams, Stevens walked away victorious again. The Pioneers have not beaten Stevens since the 2012 season.
Looking Ahead: Utica will play host to Hartwick on Thursday, for yet another Empire 8 matchup. The contest is set to begin at 8 p.m.
