Hoboken, NY – The Utica College men's basketball team fell to Stevens on Tuesday, 85-54. The loss pushes UC's record to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in Empire 8 play.

Stevens took the lead early on, holding an 8-3 advantage over Utica in the first four minutes. The Ducks then seized control of the contest with a 19-2 run, in the span of 7:21, to lead UC by a score of 27-9 with 7:28 left in the half. The Pioneers were unable to match the scoring of Stevens in the first half, as they trailed 46-18 at the break.

The Ducks maintained control of the game, as they improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 against Empire 8 opponents. Although Utica was able to score the ball better in the second, the team was too far behind to mount a comeback.

Avery Coston (Kerhonkson, NY/Rondout Valley) played well coming off the bench, recording eight points, five rebounds, and four steals in just the second half. Ivan Iton (Ossining, NY/Ossining) tallied eight points, four boards, and two blocks.

Balanced scoring aided Stevens to victory, as four players reached double-digit points. Spencer Cook led the way with 12 points and six rebounds, as Frank Amari and Kevin Florio both poured in 11 points. Jayson Winick added 10 points of his own. The Ducks shot 28-for-32 as a team from the free throw line in the win.

The Pioneers return to action on Thursday for the first of a three-game home stand. The team will host Empire 8 rival Hartwick, for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
