WASHINGTON, PA- The Utica College field hockey team dropped a close one, 1-0, to nationally ranked No 18 Washington and Jefferson College in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday morning.

The Presidents opened the scoring at 11:52 as Alana Boyd put in a feed from Sofiya Bobrovnikova for her sixth of the year. That was all W&J needed as it held on for its 12
th win of the season. The Presidents also remain atop the Empire 8 Conference standings with a perfect 6-0 mark.

Megan Chamberlain (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) made six saves in net, while her counterpart, Rena Israel picked up her ninth shutout of the season.

The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday as they host Skidmore College. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
