Utica, NY – The Utica College men's soccer team will be hosting Houghton College on Saturday for its final home matchup of the 2018 season. It is Senior Day for the Pioneers as the seniors on the team will be playing their last career game at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium, starting at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out: UC took down Morrisville at home in its last contest, 2-1, to improve to 5-9-1 overall this year. After going down a goal to the Mustangs,
Paul Mitchell (Belfast, Ireland/CBS) tied the game up with a goal to set the table for
Thomas Muller's (Camillus, NY/Bishop Ludden) game-winner late in the second half. Muller and Mitchell both registered their first score of the season, with
Andrew Ruyack (Chester, NY/Monroe Woodbury) and
Julian Fonseca (Rocky Hill, CT/Bridgton) earning the assists. Sophomore goalkeeper
Randy Miksch (Lake Villa, IL/Warren Township) made six saves in net, helping the team snap a four-game losing skid.
Senior Day: Saturday marks the final home game of the season for the Pioneers, as they hold Senior Day to honor the seniors on this year's squad. The nine seniors to be recognized on the day include:

Julian Fonseca (Rocky Hill, CT/Bridgton),
Nicolas Diaz (Commack, NY/Commack),
Andrew Ruyack (Chester, NY/Monroe Woodbury),
Paul Mitchell (Belfast, Ireland/CBS),
Calvin Mends (Accra, Ghana/Tema International),
Luke Tantillo (Clinton, NY/Clinton),
Enock Bunyon (Accra, Ghana/Adisadel), and
Jordan Smith (Tolland, CT/Tolland). Each individual will be honored prior to the start of the match during a short Senior Day Ceremony for their contributions to the program.
Statistical Leaders: Julian Fonseca (Rocky Hill, CT/Bridgton) is the team's point leader, accumulating 10 total points on four goals and two assists this season.
Nicolas Diaz (Commack, NY/Commack) and
Thomas Muller (Camillus, NY/Bishop Ludden) are tied for second on the squad with six points each. Diaz has registered two scores and two assists, while Muller has one goal and a team-high four assists.
Miksch Stepping Up: Randy Miksch (Lake Villa, IL/Warren Township) has received the start in goal for six of the last seven games for UC. He is 3-3 over that span and has put up one shutout in net as well. Miksch has made a total of 36 saves on the season for his sophomore campaign.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers are on the road Tuesday, October 23
rd, as they face-off with Hobart College. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
