UTICA, NY- The Utica College men's hockey team cruised to an 8-0 victory over visiting Endicott College in an exhibition contest Saturday evening at the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
Â
The teams will return to action Sunday at 2 p.m. for a second exhibition contest before the regular season officially begins next weekend.
Â
The Pioneers netted two goals in each of the first two periods and then tacked on four more in the final 20 minutes to secure the lopsided victory.
Â
Shawn Lynch (Syracuse, NY/Ottawa Jr. Senators (CCHL)) opened the scoring at 16:26 as he put in a feed from
Jarrod Fitzpatrick (Wakefield, MA/Northern Cyclones (EHL)) and freshman
Liam Hunter (Norwood, ON/Kemptville 73's (CCHL)), who tallied his first collegiate point on the play. Just 1:24 later, it was Hunter who found the back of the net to give UC an insurance tally.  Freshman
JT Entelisano (Rome, NY/Markham Royals (OJHL)) and
Jacob Gerson (Colorado Springs, CO/Hampton Roads (USPHL)) assisted on Hunter's first collegiate goal.
Â
Reigning UCHC Rookie of the Year,
Conor Landrigan (New Tripoli, PA/Binghamton Jr. Sens (NAHL)) put in a pair of goals, both assisted by Greg Burmaster and
Justin Allen (Rochester, NY/Rochester Monarchs (USPHL-NCDC)) to give the Pioneers a four-goal lead after 40 minutes of play.
Â
The third period was all Utica as Burmaster netted his first of the evening just 52 seconds into the third period to stretch the UC lead to 5-0. Entelisano and senior
Zach Borsoi (Brossard, Quebec/Gloucester (CCHL)) also scored in the third frame and Burmaster put in his second of the evening to cap off the scoring.Â
Tyler Dill (South Lake Tahoe, CA/Charlotte Rush (USPHL-Premier)) and
Brandon Young (Muskegon, MI/Johnstown (NAHL)) each had one assist on the evening.Â
Â
The Pioneers went 3-for-10 on the power play, while the Gulls were scoreless on eight opportunities with the man advantage. Junior
Gianluca Baggetta (Maple, Ontario/North York (OJHL)) was lights out in net as he turned aside all 40 shots he faced. Meanwhile, Mark Speccia and Connor O'Brien combined for 31 saves for Endicott.
