UTICA, NY- The Utica College volleyball team dropped a pair of games Saturday to visiting Hartwick College, 3-2, and Alfred University, 3-1.

Utica 2, Hartwick 3- Game One Final
After taking the first set 25-23, the Pioneers dropped the next two, both by scores of 25-20 to face a 2-1 hole. Utica jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the fourth set and held off the Hartwick rally to even the score and force the decisive fifth set. Hartwick proved to be too much, however as the Hawks took set five by a score of 15-9.

Senior
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led the way for the Pioneers with a season-high 24 kills, while
Megan Rice (Leverett, MA/Amherst Regional) has 13 kills and
Miranda Stockbridge (Waterville, NY/Waterville) chipped in with nine. Herringshaw also led Utica with four blocks.

Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) had a game-high 28 digs, and
Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) had a season-best 31 assists. Freshman
Jenna Prewasnicak (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) also chipped in with 22 assists. Meanwhile,
Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) and
Kurstan Martin (Owego, NY/Tioga) chipped in with three assists apiece.

Utica 1, Alfred 3- Game Two Final
After falling 25-21 in the opening set, Utica responded to win a 25-21 decision of its own. The Pioneers threatened over the next two sets, but Alfred held on for the victory.

Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) matched her season-high with 24 kills. She has now recorded at least 20 kills in each of her last three matches. Herringshaw also moved into second place all-time at Utica with 842 kills in her career.Â

Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) had eight kills and
Megan Rice (Leverett, MA/Amherst Regional) chipped in with six.Â
Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) led the Pioneers against with 22 assists, while
Jenna Prewasnicak (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) had 17.
