Utica, NY -- The Utica College men's soccer team hits the road Tuesday for a non-conference matchup with Hobart College. The match is set to kick-off at 4 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Pioneers fell at home in their last contest to Houghton College, with the final score reading 5-0. Goalkeeper Randy Miksch (Lake Villa, IL/Warren Township) made three saves in the loss, as the team's record drops to 5-10-1 overall and 1-5 in the Empire 8 conference.
Statistical Leaders: Senior Julian Fonseca (Rocky Hill, CT/Bridgton) continues to lead UC with 10 total points on a team-high four goals to go with two assists. Thomas Muller (Camillus, NY/Bishop Ludden) has the most assists on the team with four, and has one goal to give him six total points. Nicolas Diaz (Commack, NY/Commack) also has six points on the season, from his two goals and two assists.
Scouting Hobart: The Statesmen are currently 6-6-2 overall and have lost their last two matches. The team had previously won five games in a row before slipping up in the past two contests. Tristan Cornell Roberts leads Hobart with three goals and one assist, good for seven points on the year. Goalkeeper Alec Kaminer has made 58 saves this season and earned six shutout victories.
2017 Matchup Results: These two teams met at the end of the season last year as well, as the game was played at Utica's Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The Pioneers defeated the Statesmen 1-0, thanks to a header from Andrew Ruyack (Chester, NY/Monroe Woodbury) that reached the back of the net for the lone score of the match. Ruyack's goal was assisted by teammate Tucker Marvin (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa).
Looking Ahead: Utica will be on the road Saturday for the team's final match of the 2018 season, as it heads out to face Stevens. This E8 contest is set to begin at 11 a.m.
