Field Hockey Falls in Season Finale

ROCHESTER, NY- The Utica College field hockey team dropped its final game of the 2018 season Saturday as it fell to Empire 8 Conference foe Nazareth College 4-2.

The Pioneers wrap up their season with a 6-11 overall record and a 3-5 mark in the E8.  Utica will bid farewell to seven seniors including Jessica Belt (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder), Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton), Madison Babicz (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford), Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford), Maria Orsino (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit), Paige Mapley (Meridan, NY/Cato-Meridan), and Carly Tebolt (Wappingers, NY/Roy C Ketcham).

Naz opened the scoring at 23:17 as Natalie L'Hommedieu put in an assist from Jennifer Hilts to give the Golden Flyersa 1-0 lead.

Utica responded at 40:19 when senior Jessica Belt (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) found the back of the net for her first of the year.  It was short-lived, however as the Golden Flyers regained the lead just 1:28 later as Mikaylee Whalen put in a feed from Alexandra Livesey for her eighth of the seaon.

Naz added two more scores in the final 12 minutes of play, one off the stick of Whalen and the other by Sarah Dugas to give the home team a 4-1 lead.  Utica was able to get one back with 55 seconds remaining in regulation as Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) netted her fifth of the year, assisted by Belt. It was too little, too late however as Naz held on to win.

Senior Carly Tebolt (Wappingers, NY/Roy C Ketcham) made a career-high 19 saves in the loss, while Nazareth's Kimber Nourse had 12 saves in the win.
