Women's Hockey Remains Unbeaten; Matches Best Start in Program History

ASTON, PA- The Utica College women's hockey team downed host Neumann University 3-1 in UCHC Conference action Saturday afternoon to pick up the weekend sweep over the Knights.

Utica improves to 8-0 (6-0 UCHC) and matches its best start to a season in program history.  The Pioneers will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 25 as they take on local rival, Hamilton College.  Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Neumann opened the scoring at 10:16 of the first period as Jill Crane netted her first of the year, assisted by Sammy Patrick and Mollie Johnson.  The lead was short-lived however as junior Kyra Borsoi (Brossard, Quebec/Holderness) netted her first collegiate goal just 1:29 later to even the score.  Freshman Lindsey Winter (Minneapolis, MN/Armstrong Cooper) assisted on the equalizer.

The score remained knotted at one until the 6:05 mark of the third period when senior Colby Begis (Little Elm, TX/Dallas Stars) found the back of the net for her first of the season.  Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) and Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) registered assists on the shorthanded goal.

The Pioneers tacked on an insurance tally just 1:22 later when freshman Sirena Fitzery (Hamburg, NY/Buffalo Bisons) netted her first career goal to put UC up 3-1.  Freshman Caley Susitti (Hartland, WI/Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) and junior Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) assisted on the play.

Junior Bria Reilly (Hamden, CT/Brewster Academy) made 19 saves in the win, while Neumann's Helen Cooney had 41 saves.
