Hoboken, NJ – The Utica College women's soccer team matched up with the #1 seeded Stevens Ducks on Saturday in the Empire 8 Conference Championship game. The Pioneers were defeated, 3-0, in their second ever E8 Championship appearance, ending their 2018 season.
Stevens outshot Utica 11-1 in the first half, with a goal from Ally Wanzor giving the Ducks a 1-0 lead at halftime. Junior goalkeeper
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) made five saves in the opening period.
The host team would go on to score two more goals in the second half, courtesy of Misha Brewster and Julia Panko, to secure a 3-0 lead.
Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY/Poland) and senior
Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) each had shots on goal in the match, but were unable to beat the Stevens keeper.
Wagner finished the game with eight saves, as the Pioneers close out the year with an overall mark of 11-7-2 after competing in the E8 Tournament for the first time since 2007.

Eileen Blumenauer completes her third season at the helm, leading the program to the most wins since the 2006 season (11). The Pioneers are now 2-3-1 all-time in the Empire 8 Tournament and have made two appearances in the championship match.
