KISSIMMEE, FL- The Utica College softball team dropped both games on the opening day of the Sunkissed Classic in Kissimmee, FL on Sunday as it fell to The College of New Jersey 8-0 (6 innings) and Ramapo College 14-2

Utica 0, TCNJ 8- Game One Final
After three scoreless innings, the Lions broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning. The Pioneers were only able to get two base runners over the next two innings and TCNJ tacked on four more runs in the sixth to come away with the run-rule victory.

Nicole Rice (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South),
Dominique Soto (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place), and
Hayley Fredericks (Suffern, NY/Suffern) were each 1-for-2, while
Sadie Evans (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and
Sabrina Stransky (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) were each 1-for-3. Rice and Fredericks also added one walk each and Soto recorded her first steal of the season.

Freshman
Gabby Caccamo (Suffern, NY/Suffern) shouldered the loss as she gave up eight hits in 3.2 innings of work, but did not allow an earned run on the day.Â
Alyssa Samborin (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) gave up with one hit and three earned runs in 1.1 innings in relief.Â

Utica 2, Ramapo 14- Game Two Final
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings but the Pioneers responded in the bottom of the third as freshman Madison judge doubled to left to bring home
Sadie Evans (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa).

Ramapo tacked on four more runs in the fifth and exploded for seven runs in the seventh to come away with a 14-2 victory. Â

Madison Akots (Wynantskill, NY/Emma Willard School), and

Dominique Soto (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) also recorded an RBI.Â

Alyssa Samborin (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) gave up just two hits in relief.
