Utica, NY – The Utica College women's water polo team heads to Monmouth, IL this weekend to take part at the CWPA Weekend at Monmouth College. With three scheduled games on the docket, UC will play Penn State Behrend (1:45 p.m.) and Grove City College (6:45 p.m.) on Saturday before closing out the weekend Sunday against Washington and Jefferson College (12:15 p.m.).
 
Last Time Out: The team lost both contests from last weekend, as it competed at the Hartwick College Invite. The Pioneers fell to No. 13 ranked Hartwick, 18-3, and to Saint Francis University by a score of 10-2. Michalyn Winkler (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) notched her first goal of the year against Hartwick, while Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) and Hnyla Sloan (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) were responsible for the other two scores. In the loss to Saint Francis, Meagan Stanton (Chemung, NY/Waverly) and Krystiana Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) each scored once. Goalie Courtney Kennedy (Long Island, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) tallied a season-high of nine saves in the game. The pair of losses for Utica pushes the team's record to 0-6 on the year.
 
Point Scorers: The leading scorer for UC is currently senior Krystiana Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) with five goals and one assist so far this season. Hnyla Sloan (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) is behind her with three scores and one assist as well. Meagan Stanton (Chemung, NY/Waverly) and Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) have both recorded two goals and one assist through the first six games. Teammates Ashley Flint (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), Lara McNamara (Yonkers, NY/Maria Regina), Rebecca Merrill (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford), and Michalyn Winkler (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) have all made two assists.
 
Defenders and Goalies: On the defensive end Michalyn Winkler (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) operates as the team's anchor in net. Winkler not only leads UC with 16 steals, but she also is tops on the team making 60 total saves so far in her junior campaign. Hnyla Sloan (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) has contributed 11 steals defensively and Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) has made eight. Courtney Kennedy (Long Island, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) has stepped into the net as well this season, tallying 16 saves.
 
CWPA Weekend: Utica will be participating at CWPA Weekend at Monmouth College for three conference contests. In game one, the team will meet the Penn State Behrend Lions who hold a record of 5-7 overall and 0-1 in CWPA play. The second matchup of the weekend is against the 3-4 Grove City College Wolverines, who are 2-2 in conference competition. UC's final battle of the weekend will be with Washington and Jefferson, which currently owns a 3-7 mark overall and a 2-0 record in the CWPA.
 
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will then get ready for a trip to Siena College for doubleheader action on March 30th. They will face host Siena College to open up play before closing out the weekend against Connecticut College. Game times are yet to be determined.
