Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls at Oswego

OSWEGO, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team had its winning streak snapped at three games as it fell to host Oswego State 19-7 in non-conference action Saturday.

With the loss, Utica drops to 4-3 on the season.  The Pioneers look to bounce back on Wednesday as they welcome Sage for the 2018 Empire 8 Conference opener.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Utica jumped out to a quick lead as senior Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) put in a feed from Katie McDowell (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) at 23:42 for her team-leading 13th goal of the year.  It was short-lived however, as the Lakers scored 15 straight goals over the next 30 minutes to take a commanding lead.  Utica battled back to score six goals in the second half, including five of the game's final six scores, but it was too little, too late.

Miller and Brittany Nowak (Eden, NY/Eden) each had two goals on the day, while Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford), Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS), and Stephanie Husnay (Canastota, NY/Whitesboro) also scored.  Husnay, Jessica Steinhilber (Plainview, NY/Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK), and Hailee DuMont (Wilkes-Barre, PA/James M. Coughlin) each recorded two caused turnovers, while Caroline Wiley (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) picked up a team-high three ground balls.

Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central), Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles), and Abigail Rogan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) each saw action in goal, with Vandermeulen shouldering the loss.
